Sao Paulo FC is one of the best-established football clubs in the Serie A league. The club was founded in 1930 and it has become one of the success stories of Brazilian football. The team has won 22 state titles and six national competitions.
The 1990s brought much success to the club under head coach Tele Santana. The club has had great results with its youth training system and developed players such as Ricardo Kaká, who went on to win the coveted Ballon d’Or.
The club has a staggering 12 million supporters, making it the 3rd most popular team in Brazil. The home stadium is the famous Morumbi stadium, which can hold up to 72,000 fans and has been the home of Sao Paulo football since the 1960s.
In the 2021 season of Serie A, Sao Paulo came 13th in the league and this year managed to come runners up in the prestigious Paulista, the top tier league in the state of Sao Paulo. After eight years of waiting, in 2021, they managed to win the Campeonato Paulista trophy under new manager Herman Crespo. Sadly, after that victory, Sao Paulo had a relegation battle resulting in the sacking of Crespo to be replaced by Rogerio Ceni. Fortunately, under Ceni, the club managed to come 2nd in the all-important 2022 edition of the Campeonato Paulista. In addition, in 2022 they managed to reach the semi-finals of the prized Copa do Brasil.
