A Beginner’s Guide on How To Bet

Placing bets is not complicated, but if you are new to sports betting it may be a bit daunting. Read on to learn all you need to know.

Getting Started

To be able to place a bet, you must first deposit funds into your account. Once your account is topped up, you will be able to make use of all the bets we offer.

When you find a bet that you want to place, the odds will show how much can be won if the bet comes through. Simply click on the bet to add it to the bet slip and then enter a bet amount to see the potential returns.

Once the bet is placed, the odds are fixed and all you have to do is sit back and wait to see if you have won. It is important to note that odds will be fixed to the exact time that the bet was placed. What this means is that if anything occurs between when the bet was made and the start of the game, such as a player injury, sudden weather condition changes, or anything else that may influence the outcome of the game, the odds for the market will change, but the bet will still have the odds from the time that it was placed.

However, this is not the case when it comes to live betting. There are many sports where live betting is available, and here the odds will be changing drastically throughout the course of the game. When one player or team takes the lead or is winning the game, then their betting odds will shorten, and conversely if one team or player looks like they are trailing or losing the game, their odds will lengthen. Depending on the sport, these odds can jump back and forth and change in seconds.

When placing a live bet, it is important to choose the moment you place the bet carefully. In the middle of dangerous attacks or any of the action, the bets may be briefly unavailable. This is because the odds may drastically jump if one team scores a goal or point, and therefore the betting is placed on hold. You do not need to worry about this too much as the betting, just be aware that it is possible to leave placing your bets a little too late.

When betting is open, just as with pre-event betting, the odds for the bet will not change once it has been placed even if the odds for the market do change.

How to Make Multiple Bets

It is good to start with placing individual bets, just to get a feel of how betting works, but once punters feel more adventurous they can try to place multiple bets. There are many different types of bets available for all major sports, and some of them may offer two or more bets that catch your eye.

In this case it is possible to place more than one bet on a game, and if you want to, you can link those bets in a parlay. A parlay is where multiple bets are combined and their odds are multiplied against each other to make longer odds. These bets are often very attractive as the potential returns are much larger than with regular bets. It is possible to combine a huge number of bets, but remember that all bets must win for the parlay to pay out. Even if just one bet on your parlay losses, the entire bet is lost.

The more selections in a parlay, the more risky it is, which is why parlays must be treated carefully. Despite this, you have many options when it comes to placing multiple bets. There is the option to place each bet individually, to place one parlay with many bets on it, or the option to place multiple smaller parlays, where the payout may not be as high as the larger parlay, but it can still make a profit if some of the selections do not win.

Understanding Each Bet

To be able to fully take advantage of the bets on offer, it is important to understand them all. Some people may avoid certain bets because they do not understand them, or do not have the patience to find out how they work. However, this is limiting and can result in missed opportunities.

Of course, not everyone will use all of the different available types of bet and it is certainly not a way to guarantee a win. Nonetheless, it is worth exploring each type of bet as each offers a different opportunity and a different way of betting on a sport.

There is no formula to win all the time, but it can definitely help to experiment with individual bets, large parlays, multiple smaller parlays, various betting markets, and so on. Then, when looking back through your betting history, you will be able to see which bets worked best and in what combination. Hopefully, you can then use this knowledge to increase your future success.
