What is Spread-Bet Roulette?

Spread-Bet Roulette is an exciting variant on the traditional European Roulette game. It gives players the chance to bet on a number of sectors on the wheel and also to win a side bet. Inside the wheel, there is a second golden wheel that also has the numbers 0 to 36 on it. In this Spread-Bet Roulette guide, we cover all you need to know about the table game and how you can win bigger prizes from the side bet.

How to Play Spread-Bet Roulette

Spread-Bet Roulette is very similar to European Roulette. It has a spinning wheel that contains 37 numbers on it in different segments. Of those segments, there are 36 black and red numbers from 1 to 36. The 37th number is the green 0.

The main difference between Spread-Bet Roulette and standard European Roulette is that there is a second golden wheel inside of the main wheel. The golden wheel also contains the numbers 0 to 36 on it and it spins independently from the main wheel. Whenever the ball lands, the numbers from the main wheel and golden wheel are added together. As a result, the game has a number of interesting betting possibilities.

Betting on Spread-Bet Roulette

In Spread-Bet Roulette, there are several types of bets and they are split into inside, outside and announced bets.

Inside Bets

The inside bets that are involved in Spread-Bet Roulette are more difficult to win but tend to offer high payouts. These bets include:

  • Straight Up Bet: A bet on a single number that pays 35:1
  • Split Bet: A bet on two adjacent numbers that pays 17:1
  • Street Bet: A bet on three adjacent numbers that pays 11:1
  • Corner Bet: A bet on four numbers that pays 8:1
  • Line Bet: A bet on six numbers (two Street bets) that pays 5:1

Outside Bets

It is also possible to bet on the outside bets. These have a higher chance of winning but also pay less than inside bets. The outside bets include:

  • Red or Black pays 1:1
  • Odd or Even pays 1:1
  • 1-18 or 19-36 pays 1:1
  • Dozen bets (a bet on 12 numbers in a column) pays 2:1
  • 1st, 2nd, 3rd dozens (a bet on 1-12, 13-24, 25-36) pays 2:1

Announced Bets

It is also possible to use the racetrack betting area to place announced bets, which are also known as ‘French Bets’. Those included are Voisins du Zero, Tier and Orphelins. Players can also bet on between one and five neighbours of a single number:

  • Neighbours: Placing straight up bets on between one and five neighbouring numbers on the wheel.
  • Tiers: Six chips that are bet on the following split bets – 5/8, 10/11, 13/16, 23/24, 27/30, 33/36.
  • Voisins du Zero: Nine chips that are bet on all of the numbers between 22 and 25 on the roulette table.
  • Orphelins: Five chips that are placed on a series of numbers including a straight bet on 1 and split bets on 6/9, 14/17, 17/20, 31/34.

Golden Wheel Side Bet

The most exciting thing about Spread-Bet Roulette is the side bet. To bet on the side bet, players can bet on the sum of the two numbers (from the main wheel and the golden wheel) being in the range of 0-1, 2-11, 12-18, 19-33, 34-54, 55-67 or 68-72.

Once the ball has landed on a segment, the golden wheel will stop to spinning to display a number. That number is added together with the base game number to form a total. For instance, if the outer wheel lands on 3 and the inner golden reel lands on 5, the total is 8. This would fall into the 2-11 category, which pays 15 times your bet.

Side Bet Payouts

As there are seven different categories for the Golden Wheel side bet, they each have their own payout. Naturally, the more difficult categories offer larger payouts:

  • 0-1 pays 400:1
  • 2-11 pays 15:1
  • 12-18 pays 10:1
  • 19-33 pays 2:1
  • 34-54 pays 1:1
  • 55-67 pays 7:1
  • 68-72 pays 80:1

The last rule to note about the Spread-Bet side bet is that you can guarantee all of your wagers will double if the ball lands on the green zero. Regardless of whether you have bet on the correct category, the green zero automatically pays you double your side bet stakes.

The RTP for each of the categories is listed below:

  • 0-1 has an RTP of 93.28%
  • 2-11 has an RTP of 93.06%
  • 12-18 has an RTP of 95.4%
  • 19-33 has an RTP of 94.16%
  • 34-54 has an RTP of 93.50%
  • 55-67 has an RTP of 96.57%
  • 68-72 has an RTP of 94.16%
