Betting on the Italian Superlega

The Italian Superlega is the top-flight professional male volleyball club competition in the Italian men's volleyball League system. Many world-class volleyball players have had a stint in the league at some point in their careers. It is regarded as one of the most highly competitive volleyball championships.

The 13-team competition is played in two phases. It starts with a regular 24-match round-robin tournament in which 12 teams play each other every regular season match week. One team will rest every match week. The top eight teams on the table will proceed to playoffs where a winner will be found. The bottom two teams are relegated to a lower league.

With so many games taking place in the regular season and the playoffs, there is no shortage of opportunities to place bets. Here we will teach you about the most popular volleyball bets that you can place on the Italian Superlega.

Italian Superla Bets

To Win

This is the simplest bet to start with as a beginner. It is basically a prediction of which team will win the match. There are no draws in volleyball so all you have to do is choose one of the two teams to win.

Take for example a match between Vero Volley and Modena Volley, just choose a team and if the team wins, then you win your bet.

Exact Score Betting

This is a type of wager where you have to predict the exact score of the volleyball match. The bet wins if the match ends in the exact scores as you predicted.

For example in a match between Placenza and Verona, you can predict that Pacenza will win by 3 sets to 2. If they win by that margin, the bet is also won.

Sets Betting

There are a few ways of betting on sets. The first is a bet on how many sets will be played in a match. It is presented as an over/under bet. For instance, in a game between Taranto and Milano, you could bet on there being over or under 3.5 sets in the match. If you bet over, you are betting that at least 4 sets will be played, if you bet under you are betting that only 3 sets will be played.

You can also bet on which team will win an individual set. This is a result bet not on the entire match but just on a particular set. You might not be able to predict how the match will end but if you think you know how a set will go, this is your bet market. So for the hypothetical Milano match against Taranto, you could predict that the fourth set will be won by Milano and if they do, your bet is won.

Handicap Bets

Handicap bets assign a sets handicap to the favorite team that they then have to overcome for bets on them to win. The effect of this is longer odds, which makes the bet more attractive. For example, in a game between Cisterna and Monza, a -1.5 sets handicap could be given to Cisterna. This means that any bets on the team would only win if they win the match by at least 2 sets.

Over/Under Points Bets

This is a bet on the total number of points a volleyball match will produce. It can be the total number of points for the whole match or just a particular set. A betting line is provided and the bet is on whether the total points will be over or under that line. For example, in a match between Padova and Ravenna, you could bet that there will be over or under a total of 60.5 points scored.

Player and Game Props

Prop bets are on events that may happen in a match or certain in game statistics. For instance, you could bet on Modena Volley's spiker Ngapeth Earvin committing a palming foul or scoring a penalty in a game against Perugia. You can  also bet on whether the number of points scored will be odd or even, on whether a fourth of fifth set will be played and far more.

Live Betting

This is betting that happens even after the match has begun. You will find many of the bets explained above, but the odds will be adjusted in real time to reflect the action in the game. You can also bet on the next thing to happen, such as the next team to win.
