Betting on Skateboarding at the X Games

The X Games

The X Games is an event that is held every year and is organised and broadcast by ESPN. There are multiple versions of the X Games, including the main summer and winter events that are held in different venues around the US each year, as well as the Asian Summer and Winter X Games, European Summer and Winter X Games, Latin American X Games, and the Oceania X Games.

The key event is the American X Games, which brings together numerous different sports. This includes motor sports, skateboarding, BMX, and now, eSports at the summer event. In winter, there are sports such as skiing and snowboarding. The sports often vary from year to year, and there is no guarantee that a sport will return after it has featured once.

The X Games works in the same way as the Olympics. There are competitions for each of the individual sports with gold, silver and bronze medals up for grabs in each event.

Different Skateboarding Events at the X Games

Skateboarding is one of the most popular events in the X Games, and many of the most famous skateboarders have competed at the event such as Tony Hawk, Nyjah Huston, Bob Bunrquist, and many more. There are multiple skateboarding tournaments to look forward to at the event, including Skateboard Vert, Street League Skateboarding, SLS Select Series, Skateboard Big Air, and more.

How to Bet on the Skateboarding at the X Games

Outright Winner

There will be bets for each of the individual skateboarders in the different skateboarding events. This will include bets for the overall winners of the men’s park, women’s park, street league SLS select series, women’s street, and skateboarding vert competitions. Punters can find these bets before the X Games start, and they can back the top skateboarders such as Elliot Sloan, Leticia Bufoni, Nyjah Huston, Liam Pace, and many more.

Podium Finish

These bets come at slightly shorter odds than the outright winner bets but they are less risky. The skateboarders picked in these bets do not necessarily have to win in a specific event but instead they can finish anywhere in the top three places and the bet will win.

Nationality of the Winners

This bet is a bit more abstract, but it offers punters the chance to bet on the nationality of the winner of each event. There are some countries such as Brazil, the US, and Japan, where there are multiple world class skaters, which may make for safe bets as if any one of the skaters in the country picked wins the event, the bet wins.

Head to Head

Head to head bets offer skateboarding fans the chance to pit the top players against each other. This market picks two skaters and places them against each other. These will be offered separately for each event, so the skateboarders competing in one event will not be placed against those competing in another. You need to pick a skater and it does not matter where the two skateboarders rank in the final standings, as long as the chosen skateboarder finishes ahead of the other, the bet wins.

Some great picks to look out for in the Skateboarding Vert are Jimmy Wilkins vs Gui Khury, Moto Shibata vs Elliot Sloan, and other variations of these matchups.

In the men’s park some top skaters to look out for in these matchups are Jagger Eaton, Liam Pace, Kieran Woolley, and Yuro Nagahara. In the women’s park these will be Sajkura Yosozumi, Cocona Hiraki, Mami Tezuka, and Bryce Wettstein.

In the street event for men, matchups between Yuto Horigome, Daiki Ikeda, Sora Shirai, and Lucas Rabelo will be exciting. In the women’s equivalent, Rayssa Leal, Funa Nakayama, Yumeka Oda and Chloe Covell will be the top players to bet on in matchups.

Game Props

There may be additional bets that skateboarding fans can take advantage of which focus on specific details in each competition. These can be bets such as which skater will score the highest points in a heat, what tricks will a skater land, will any skater receive a perfect score, how many points will the event’s winner accrue,  and many more. These bets can be researched by watching videos of skater’s previous performances at the X Games or other similar events. Those who have watched numerous skateboarding tournaments and are familiar with the styles and limitations of each of the skaters will be able to place better informed bets.

Live Bets

In addition to the large selection of pre-event bets, there will also be numerous bets that can be placed during the competition. These live bets are offered with odds that constantly update with the performances of each of the skaters in the different heats.

There are many advantages to using the live betting markets. First, it gives you the chance to assess the form of the skaters. Second, by keeping a close eye on the odds and the action, you may be able to spot some exciting betting opportunities.
